Inmarsat ELERA will be a catalyst for the next wave of world-changing technologies and is ideally suited for the Internet of Things and the billions of devices that connect each year

Inmarsat ELERA is based on the company’s global leadership in L-band satellite services with advanced technologies that will provide unparalleled L-band speeds and smaller, lower-cost, terminals supported by Inmarsat’s record for reliability. elasticity and availability

ELMA Inmarsat will help ensure the world works better for decades to come by providing vital services already trusted by businesses and governments around the world to boost operational efficiency and effectiveness, protecting people, assets, data and the environment OUR

ELERA will be a key component of Inmarsat ORCHESTRA, a world first network that will combine GEO, LEO and 5G in a harmonious solution

In the second major announcement in two weeks, Inmarsat is unveiling the Inmarsat ELERA today; a global narrowband network that is ideally suited to the rapidly evolving Internet of Things (IoT) world and to global mobility clients, including aviation, seafarers, governments and selected enterprises.

“ELERA is fully tailored to the needs of the IoT-related world,” said Rajeev Suri, CEO, Inmarsat. “Global achievement, exceptional sustainability, greater speed, smaller and lower cost terminals are all part of ensuring that we stay ahead of others in meeting our customers’ needs.”

“ELERA is a further sign of a company with real momentum and that is giving new innovations and strong performance,” Suri continued. “I expect Inmarsat to grow strongly in 2021 compared to last year, and this growth will cover most of our business units. Our progress was noticeable in the first half, where we saw a strong increase in it. “Earnings and EBITDA and strong cash flow. We have sharpened our strategy to focus on fostering growth, accelerating decision-making, launching new innovations, and creating a more commercially focused, customer-centric culture.”

ELERA builds on Inmarsat’s global leadership in L-band satellite services with state-of-the-art technology that will offer unmatched L-band speeds and smaller, lower-cost, lower-cost terminals

ELERA relies on Inmarsat’s # 1 position in Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) and will be a springboard for innovating, unlocking, accelerating and scaling up pioneering use cases on land, sea and air. Its foundation is Inmarsat’s world-class L-band network and includes new innovations ranging from higher speeds to smaller, lower-cost terminals and [the previously announced] Inmarsat-6 satellites, the first of which (I-6 F1) is scheduled to be launched before the end of the year.

Just 14 days after Inmarsat announced ORCHESTRA, the world’s first network to combine GEO, LEO and 5G into a harmonious global communications solution, ELERA underscores Inmarsat ‘s strategic focus on the global satellite communications mobility segment. Alsoshtë also a signal of a company with momentum, offering great innovations and technological growth.

ELERA’s unique capabilities, combined with Inmarsat’s superior spectrum and the ideally suited orbital position of its satellite networks, will make it the essential catalyst for new cases of IoT use, in everything from autonomous transport and vehicles. unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to industry and agriculture IoT applications.

ELERA Innovation

ELERA is built on Inmarsat’s leading L-band network, which already offers the most reliable and flexible global connectivity service in the world with unique resilience in all conditions and complete global redundancy. It supports everything from worldwide maritime and aviation security services and humanitarian missions to IoT applications across agritech, transportation and services, among many others.

New innovations the company is investing in to bring to market in the near future include spectrum management technology to deliver L-band speeds of up to 1.7 Mbps, smaller track, low-cost L-band terminal and two new L-band satellites, which are the largest and most sophisticated commercial communications satellites ever created.

The new spectrum management capabilities (known as Carrier Clustering) included in the ELERA network will provide the fastest speed available globally to L-generation customers, far exceeding the capabilities of any other L-generation worldwide network.

Direct customer testing in commercial aviation is scheduled to begin during 2022 and this technology will be extended to a range of sector-specific applications for the Inmarsat movement, government customers and the IoT over the coming years.

ELERA will also see the creation of a smaller, low-cost terminal for L-band users, providing the ideal framework for scale-based IoT satcom, with support for cloud-based management, for vertical sectors such as infrastructure, railways, logistics, mining, agriculture, government, maritime and aviation.

Inmarsat is launching two new satellites to upgrade the ELERA network. The I-6 satellites, the first of which is scheduled to be launched in late 2021, are the largest and most sophisticated commercial communications satellites ever built.

Rajeev Suri, Chief Executive Officer, Inmarsat

The L-band capacity on each I-6 satellite will be much larger than the Inmarsat 4th band spacecraft and, among other improvements, they will provide 50% more beam capacity; means that much more data can be transferred to the same geographical area, in addition to the unlimited flexibility of beam tracking.

ELERA will also provide a major expansion to Inmarsat’s voice-activated device portfolio, bringing new capabilities and innovations to hundreds of thousands of customers. This initiative represents our commitment to voice service innovation and underscores the company’s long-term commitment to voice services over the satellite market.

“ELERA is the exciting vision of how Inmarsat is planning to transform the capabilities offered to IoT clients and mobility for years to come and confirms our long-term commitment to Group L services. We will share further details on these innovations with our community. partner in the coming months and we will continue our announcement program as we achieve great things, ”said Rajeev Suri, CEO, Inmarsat.

Investments in ELERA are already included in the current Inmarsat plans and guidelines for CAPEX.
